Martin and Caroline’s final farewell report

Well you wouldn’t have expected our last few months at Duncton to be quite so eventful… Coronavirus certainly has had a huge impact on so many people… financially, emotionally and physically, and sadly some people have lost people close to them, which is so tragic.

As I write this the lifting of some lockdown restrictions are taking place, and the Fishery has become really busy .. we did stay open to members over the past few months, and were visited by the police who inspected the area beside the lakes, and noted all our Covid procedures and confirmed that we were fine to be open and were acting within the government guidelines,  we have had a steady stream of anglers visiting and as I said since some restrictions have now  been lifted more members have been visiting, if you could please ensure that you stick to the social distancing rules that would be really helpful.

There are procedures in place regarding use of the facilities and there are notices around the weigh room, sadly the club room will remain closed, so it is unlikely that you will be able to experience any more lemon drizzle cake…

We are re stocking the lakes with some lovely specimen fish, as they have been growing happily away on the farm, as I have been unable to deliver fish to other fisherIes.

The lakes are looking really pretty in the Spring sunshine, and the fishing has been great, the usual top quality fighting fish have proved great sport. Sadly we will be unable to host our ‘goodbye’ weekend due to the social distancing rules, so please make sure you say hello / goodbye when you visit.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our time as custodians of the beautiful place that is Duncton Mill… you  – our members have become friends, and have always been so supportive of us as a business and a family, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts, it’s been an honour and a privilege, we hope that you have enjoyed your time beside the lakes, the fishing, and of course the cake!
We will be selling off rods, landing nets and other fishing sundries that were previously in the shop, at heavily discounted prices, so please catch me or email if you are interested, we are also offering short memberships for our  last few weeks as custodians at Duncton Mill, so if  you had wanted to discuss the various options available please just drop us an email.Carole Lindsay the on site caterer at Duncton Mill, who you may have met when you have been in the yard, will be taking over the lease of the fishery from 1st July 2020, more details regarding how to contact her regarding new memberships at the fishery will follow in a couple of weeks timeOnce again thank you again for all your support  – we look forward to seeing many of you beside the lakes at Duncton before we leave…
